Students, parents,
staff, and friends are all potential listeners.
Because this station will represent Sequoia Middle
School in such a public way, K-HAWK is dedicated to
providing information that represents Sequoia Middle
School in a
positive manner. We are committed to the following
guidelines to ensure decency and integrity in our
broadcasts.
A. DJs shall use no
statements or images derisive of any race, religion,
sex, or national origin.
B. Student DJs shall
use language that would be appropriate in
classrooms. Profanity shall not be used..
C. Broadcasts shall
adhere to the Radio & Television News Directors
Association code of ethics. (Link:
http://www.rtnda.org/ethics/coe.shtml) These
guidelines ensure that broadcasters uphold the
principles of public trust, truth, fairness,
integrity, independence, and accountability.
D. Items which may be
deemed by the adviser to be a violation of libel,
slander, right to privacy, or copyright law will not
be broadcast.
E. An error of fact
in any broadcast will require a labeled statement of
correction in the following broadcast or edition
according to appropriate or feasible time and space
limitations.
F. Broadcasts shall
not be aired unless the broadcast is in accordance
with all guidelines previously stated.
