Sequoia Middle
School is proud to be a NASA Explorer School. At our
school dedication and NASA kickoff, we were joined
by Astronaut Colonel Alvin Drew (STS-118), PUSD
Superintendent Dr. John Snavely and the Governing
Board, Congressman Devin Nunes, State Senator Roy
Ashburn, and many other local dignitaries.
The NASA
Explorer School (NES) program is a three-year
educational partnership.
This "pipeline" strategic initiative promotes and
supports the incorporation of NASA content and
programs into science, technology and mathematics
curricula in classroom grades 4-9 across the United
States. Targeting underserved populations in diverse
geographic locations, NASA Explorer Schools bring
together educators, administrators, students and
families in sustained involvement with NASA's
education programs.
Students and staff
develop connections to broader and deeper learning
experiences by traveling outside the area.
With the NES program, gaining access to scientists
and working professionals throughout the country via
a video/digital learning network brings the experts
into the classroom. |
